We just went through the Q2 2024 Job Report and found some interesting insights about why candidates are turning down job offers and what they’re really looking for.

Here’s the scoop:

Top reasons candidates are saying “no thanks” to job offers:

  • 27% had a bad impression during the interview.
  • 19% poor hiring hiring process experience.
  • 12% want flexible working options like WFH/ remote work, but aren’t getting it.
  • 6% are looking for mental health & wellbeing benefits that aren’t being offered by the company.
  • 14% are turned off by companies whose products/services negatively impact society.
  • 7% want better family-friendly benefits.
  • 9% feel companies lack diversity and inclusivity in their working environment.
  • 6% want to see more sustainability & environmental initiatives.

What candidates value most:

  • A good salary is still king, with 46% saying it’s their top priority.
  • Flexible hours are crucial for 18%.
  • Hybrid/remote working options are important to 13%.

Key dealbreakers:

  • A negative interview experience (27%).
  • A poor hiring process (19%).

Oh, and here’s a big one: 84% said they’d apply faster if companies were clearer about their remote and hybrid work policies upfront.
